Welcome to the MURSD Spanish Immersion Website

We invite you to explore this unique educational opportunity offered by Mendon-Upton Regional School District for students starting in Kindergarten. Through the Spanish Immersion program, students not only become bilingual but also have opportunities to engage in the culture. The experiences that your child will have as a part of the program will help prepare them to engage in the world as global citizens with a unique skill set and perspective.

Join us on Tuesday, February 3 at 6:00 PM via Zoom for an informative session about our exceptional Spanish Immersion Program. Hear directly from MURSD Spanish Immersion teachers, administrators, and parents as they share insights into the program. See Spanish Immersion students in action, learn what a typical day looks like for a Spanish Immersion kindergartener, and discover how the program supports language development and academic success. There will be time for questions, so you can leave with all the information you need.

Parent-to-Parent Spanish Immersion Info Night

Curious about Spanish Immersion? Join current MURSD SI parents and staff for an evening of conversation and insight! Our Parent-to-Parent Information Night offers families a chance to hear real experiences, ask questions, and learn how immersion education can open doors for your child.

Spanish Immersion Advisory Board

The Spanish Advisory Board, which consists of volunteer parents, students, teachers, staff, and administrators meet four times a year to support the mission of the Spanish Immersion Program.  Go to our Spanish Advisory Board Menu Tab above to find out more information about the work of the Advisory Board.

The Meeting of the SI Advisory Board is Wednesday, October 22 at 6:30pm-7:30pm at Nipmuc Regional High School.

Host Family Needed for
​Spanish Language and Culture Assistant

We are looking for a family to host next year's language and culture assistant from Spain from October through May.  Through the fundraising efforts of our Spanish Immersion Advisory Board, we are pleased to inform that this year there is a $600 stipend available to support the financial commitment of hosting an assistant. If families are not able to host for a full year, splitting the year between two families is also a possibility.  Contact [email protected] for more information about this enriching opportunity for your family!

Join us for our annual MURSD Multicultural Night on Thursday, May 15 from 5:30-7:30 at Nipmuc Regional High School to celebrate the rich diversity of our community.  We will have student performances, tables representing various countries and cultures, highlights of student travel, food trucks and more! ​

Parent-to-Parent SI Info Night - December 12, 2024

Join us on Thursday, December 12 at 7pm via Zoom to hear from current Spanish Immersion parents about their experiences having a child in the program.  This parent-to-parent info night is a great way to get some early information about the program leading into the kindergarten registration process that will begin in February.

Our MURSD Kindergarten Spanish Immersion Info Night was held on February 8, 2024 at 6pm. This virtual event provided families interested in Spanish immersion an opportunity to hear about the program from our Spanish immersion teachers, administrators, and current SI parents. Join Us for Our Annual Multicultural Night on May 9, 2024!

​This year's Multicultural Night will be held at Nipmuc on Thursday, May 9. We are looking forward to another exciting event featuring many of the favorites from last year: Country and culture tables with food and crafts, performances in the auditorium, multi-cultural read-alouds, highlights from district travel opportunities, photo booths, world games, food trucks and more!

International Night 2022

​Spanish Exchange Program

We are also thrilled to bring back a Spanish Exchange Program for the 2022-2023 school year.  Our Spanish Exchange Students visited the Mendon-Upton Regional School District in September 2022 and our students will be traveling as part of the exchange in the spring of 2023.  To learn more about the highlights of the September Exchange, check out the following Press Release.

​We are proud to be an International Spanish Academies School. Click here to learn more. Through our International Spanish Academies participation we have the benefit of ongoing support from the Spanish Embassy in recruitment of native speakers with teaching experience from Spain, Spanish teaching assistants, and ongoing professional devleopment.
